Our THREE HOUR Seminars

 

MS Word 2007 (2 meetings - 6 hours total)  This is an introduction for students who have done some word processing but are new to Word 2007.  Learn about the “ribbon” menus and some of the other new features.  
MS Word 2000/2002  (2 meetings - 6 hours total) Learn how to create, edit and save word processing documents.   Includes columns, color, graphics, and more using the older version of Word common in Windows XP computers.
Organizing with Folders (2 meetings - 6 hours total)  Gain proficiency in organizing your documents and your e-mail with exercises in making new folders and moving your documents, files and subfolders from one folder to another.  
Labels & Tables in Word (2 meetings - 6 hours total)  Using Microsoft Word 2007 or earlier versions (2000, 2003), you will learn to build an address book and then use that to merge and print labels. 

Windows 7 workshop   (2 sessions)   We now have some Windows 7 machines for you to practice with. This 2 session seminar will help you get more familiar with new features in Windows 7 and practice using other Windows tools.  Bring your questions and we will find answers.  You can bring your own laptop or use our computers.

Scrapbooking with PrintMaster  A fun workshop to help you create scrapbook pages with PrintMaster on your computer.  Use maps for a background of your travel memories.  Add eye catching graphics to your pictures.  Include titles and narratives.  Capture other memorabilia using the scanner.
Digital Photos with Picasa 3 (2 meetings - 6 hours total)  A 2 session workshop using a free application from Google to show you how to easily load, edit, organize, share, and print photos.  It has basic but highly effective automatic editing capabilities and some creativity options.  A great way to increase enjoyment of all your digital images.
Digital Camera Basics  Do you have a new camera or thinking about buying one? Attend this seminar to see how they work, their main features, some tips on using, and how to load the pictures into a computer.  
Genealogy  Get acquainted with research techniques using the internet and some popular programs such as Family Tree Maker. For those just beginning and those wanting to improve their skills.

Beyond the Last Will and Testament  You have made a Will and completed Health Care directives.  Is this enough?  Are you sure that in the event you are incapacitated or pass away that everything “is in order”.  This seminar will help you answer key questions such as: Who should be notified? What information should be available to whom? Where should it be kept? How often should it be updated? 

Health Info on the Web   Alan is part of the Frymoyer Resource Center at FAHC and in this free seminar he will help you find the places that have reliable health information and steer you away from the unreliable and misleading.  You may find this guided web research can make a real difference in your life.  

Successful Web Searching  Tired of getting 4 million hits from your search? Wonder why Amazon is always at the top of your search results, even if it's not what you are looking for?  Looking for information on Curried Chicken, but all you get is a rock band with the same name?  Learn how to choose the right search engine - Google is not the only one - and learn how to ask for what you want.  Explore the deep web, noncommercial web sites you almost never get to see.  Find out where information is stored that you can't find using a search engine.

 

PLEASE NOTE: A different selection of seminars is offered each term.  Additional seminars are added as the need is identified.   Tuition is $10 per 3 hour meeting.
